As part of its ongoing commitment to provide its customers with the most advanced and secure systems, Yeastar has released a new firmware update for its P-Series IP PBXs. On September 10, the company hosted a webinar highlighting the key features introduced in this update. In this article, we explore the most notable enhancements and explain why they matter to you.

If you didn’t get a chance to participate in this webinar live, never fear, we provide a recap for you here, as well as link to the replay.

Teams integration

The webinar begins by highlighting the Microsoft Teams integration that the P-Series supports. This is not a new feature, but Yeastar improved it to give the user a better experience.

You can now handle all phone calls from Microsoft Teams directly, allowing you to use a fully featured PBX within your Teams app.

The integration is very easy to use, as you simply provide the FQDN (fully qualified domain name) and log in to your personal extension account. This integration is completely free: you don’t need to purchase a Teams phone license or Microsoft calling plan.

Linkus app updates

Yeastar also improved the capabilities of the Linkus app. The queue panel for call center supervisors has been improved, with a compact view now available to view more agents’ real-time statuses simultaneously. The layouts are adjustable, making tracking a large group of agents possible with just a glance.

It is now possible for a call agent to log in or out and pause or unpause their status directly from the Linkus Mobile client instead of just the web client or the desktop client. This adds flexibility and mobility to call agents.

The new Extension Panel shows you the current status of your colleagues, allowing you to view the state of your team. This shows you the status and the caller ID of the parties with whom they are currently communicating! This is especially useful for supervisors, team leaders, and receptionists.

Finally, the Linkus app now allows you to remotely control your Linkus Desktop or Web client using Computer Telephony Integration (CTI). This integration allows users who are remotely logged in to access integrations that are available only from the corporate network, such as CRM, ERP, and other systems.

Contact center updates

The P-Series PBXs have built-in contact center capabilities, which this update further enhances. Some of the most noteworthy involve omnichannel communication. Two new channels have been added to the existing WhatsApp and SMS channels, allowing callers to interact with agents using live chat and Facebook Messenger.

Yeastar developed the live chat solution in-house. It is fully customizable and allows web users to start a live chat session directly from the website. The chat session also includes the ability to “click to call,” converting the chat to a live audio and video call. Live chat and Facebook Messenger are free to use without licensing costs.

In the webinar, the presenter shares an informative live demo of how to set up and use the live chat feature.

PBX functionality updates

The new update allows the P-Series PBXs to use remote archiving. It is now possible to free up local PBX storage space by offloading files to remote storage facilities, which allows for more efficient management of recordings and system backup files.

Now, you can achieve long-term data and file retention without needing to engage auto-cleanup when approaching PBX storage limits. This is especially useful with the P-Series cloud edition, which has a high storage cost.

Multiple cloud services are supported, including Amazon S3, Google Cloud, or on-prem FTP or SFTP solutions. You can configure up to 10 external archive servers.

Additional updates worth mentioning include selectively modifying your caller ID on outbound calls, configuring custom ring strategies for ring groups, destination-specific greetings and music on hold (MoH), and customizing the ringback tone and call waiting prompts.

The P-Series software edition is now compatible with both Ubuntu and Debian 12 if you want to install it on your infrastructure. Alternatively, you can deploy it on a whole series of cloud-based services, including AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud, and VMWare, among others.

Central management updates

Until now, Yeastar Central Management (YCM) could be used for remote provisioning and management and template configuration of all types of P-Series IP PBXs. With the most recent firmware update, you can now use YCM to remotely monitor PBX resources.

You can view current and historical resource usage, set up trunk and IP phone monitoring, and look at network inflow and outflow rates.

The presenter shared an impressive live demo of remote resource monitoring using YCM. For now, this is in beta with the new update, so you won’t see it immediately, but you can opt-in for beta testing of this feature.

Watch the replay

The webinar ended with some live questions that the presenter responded to. It’s worth listening in on these because the speaker addressed some of the most common questions.

You can watch the replay here. It’s worth watching if you’re a Yeastar reseller or already have a P-Series IP PBX or plan to get one!

Conclusion

Yeastar’s latest firmware update significantly improves the P-Series IP PBXs, enhancing usability, expanding communication channels, and offering new tools for administrators and call center supervisors.  From optimized Teams integration to an improved Linkus experience and enhanced omnichannel capabilities for contact centers, this update provides greater functionality, flexibility, and ease of use for businesses of all sizes. The addition of remote archiving and expanded cloud compatibility also makes the system more adaptable and efficient for different deployment scenarios.

If you are a current Yeastar user or considering their solutions, it’s well worth exploring these new features to see how they can further streamline your business communications.
