What if your next great meeting could happen anywhere, without compromising sound quality or convenience? Whether you’re working from home, in a shared workspace, or on the road, Yealink’s new SP9x series speakerphones make it possible to bring professional-grade audio with you wherever you go.
The SP92 and SP96 are compact enough to slip into a laptop bag yet powerful enough to turn any room into an instant conference space. With long-lasting batteries, wireless connectivity, and AI-powered noise cancellation, these portable speakerphones are designed for performance and ease of use.
In this article, we take a closer look at what makes Yealink’s SP92 and SP96 stand out and why they’re redefining what a truly mobile conference experience can be.
Yealink’s SP9x series devices are high-quality speakerphones that allow you to talk with remote parties almost as if they were in the same room. With connectivity options including USB and Bluetooth, the speakerphones can be used with your laptop, desktop, or mobile device. They simply appear as microphone and speaker options on your connected device as well as on any collaboration platform you may be using. They can even be used on a simple phone call from your smartphone. They come in two models: the SP92 and the SP96.
SP92 highlights
The SP92 speakerphone is a small, elegant, and handy device. It is highly flexible and provides outstanding audio quality, featuring AI-powered noise cancellation that removes ambient environmental sounds and allows human voices to be efficiently captured and transmitted. Capable of generating wideband audio, its 2” (50 mm) speakers reproduce voice as if the person were in the same room as you. Similarly, when used as a simple speaker, it can produce high-quality music from your smartphone or computer.
Up to two simultaneous Bluetooth connections can be made, with pairing of up to eight devices. And for those devices that don’t support Bluetooth, such as desktop computers or older laptops, the speakerphone can be purchased with a USB Bluetooth dongle included, or the dongle can be procured separately as the BT51C. Alternatively, you can connect the speakerphone directly using a USB cable to your PC or laptop.
Whether using the USB cable, the dongle, or native Bluetooth, the SP92 simply appears as an additional microphone and speaker on your system that can be used by any application running on the device. For this reason, it is compatible with virtually all collaboration platforms, communication services, and applications you may be using.
The device has built-in call control buttons that allow you to answer, end, or reject calls; adjust the volume; and mute, pair, play, and pause music. It also has a dedicated Teams button for integrated use with Microsoft’s collaboration platform. Additional perks include an extra-long battery life, with up to 20 hours of talk and/or music playback time, 360-degree voice pickup from up to 13’ (4 m) away, and a lightweight 9.7 oz (276 g) compact design, making it easy to stow in your laptop case, briefcase, or backpack.
SP96 highlights
The SP96 speakerphone takes all of the great features of its smaller sibling and improves upon them in various ways. Most noticeably, it features a larger 2.5” (65 mm) speaker. Instead of a single microphone, it sports six mics to enhance both sound pickup capability and range, capturing voices from up to 16’ (5 m) away. Talk time is also increased from 20 hours to 26, and music reproduction time can exceed 35 hours on a single charge. It also includes an LCD screen that keeps you in the loop, showing call info, Bluetooth status, cascade mode status, and more, all at a glance.
What, you may ask, is cascade mode? It allows you to wirelessly connect or “daisy chain” two SP96 devices, further extending coverage for larger conference rooms, as shown below.

Although slightly bigger than the SP92 at 14.1 oz (400 g), the SP96 is still small enough to easily carry along with you to your office meeting or on your business trip.
Real full duplex
If you’ve taken part in even a few videoconferences, you’ve likely experienced the frustration of missing part of someone’s sentence just because you spoke at the same time. This happens when a system doesn’t support true full-duplex communication.
In such systems, even a quiet acknowledgement like “yeah” or “uh-huh” can momentarily cut off the other person’s voice. That’s because the equipment can’t capture your voice and play back the remote person’s voice simultaneously. As a result, both sides must take turns speaking, with longer-than-usual gaps between turns; otherwise, you have constant interruptions, and you find yourself continually asking participants to repeat themselves.
Both the SP92 and SP96 support genuine full duplex communication, allowing you to talk and be heard even while the remote user is talking. This, of course, is not an invitation to interrupt, but rather a way to eliminate the repetitive and sometimes awkward need to ask someone to repeat themselves.
