Until recently, acquiring a video surveillance system for your home or business required recruiting expert personnel, specialized proprietary equipment and a hefty budget allocation. Only over the past few years have there been systems available on the market that are not only inexpensive, but configurable and installable by even the most modestly technologically adept individuals. 

Today, obtaining, installing and configuring a security system has become even easier with the introduction of Netgear’s Arlo video surveillance systems.

As unwanted and unexpected as they are, crises do happen, and being unprepared only makes them worse. In a 2017 PwC survey, 65 percent of respondents reported experiencing at least one crisis in the past four years. Despite their prevalence, a 2013 study by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer found that more than 40% of respondents had no type of plan in place for dealing with a crisis.

Regardless of your customer’s current state of readiness, you can help them improve their security measures and crisis response even more with applications that run on their data network. Grandstream Networks recently came out with our first facility access solution, the GDS3710 an HD, IP door phone.  It’s been a huge hit within the industry and we really enjoy using it in our offices, but as with any new product there are a lot of questions. I took this time as an opportunity to answer the most common questions, in one handy spot. Enjoy!

If it has happened to you, then you know what it feels like. You’ve put in an online order for an item, but it doesn’t arrive on the scheduled date. You look up the tracking number and you are informed that the package has been successfully delivered. The porch pirates have been at it again.

More purchases are now done online than in brick and mortar stores, and more than a billion packages were delivered to Americans over the past Christmas season alone. With the rise in packages being left on people’s doorsteps has come a rise in package theft. The thieves are known as porch pirates and they work either by following delivery trucks around or hanging out in neighborhoods waiting for the packages to arrive.

Home security and surveillance systems can help convict such thieves, and even deter instances of theft from occurring in the first place.
