Yealink MVC S80 brings intelligent video to large Teams Rooms

When remote participants join a large meeting room, the camera has a big job to do. It needs to capture the room, follow the conversation, highlight the active speaker, and make everyone feel equally present, all without forcing people at the table to think about camera controls.

The Yealink MVC S80 Microsoft Teams Rooms system is designed to solve that challenge with an intelligent multi-camera setup, AI-assisted video features, flexible room control, and support for professional audio configurations.

Inside the Yealink MVC S80

The MVC S80 is a room system solution suitable for large conference rooms of up to around 20 participants. It is essentially offered as a bundle that’s composed of four primary components.

The SmartVision 80 camera is the centerpiece of the kit and is actually four cameras in one: three fixed cameras on its base and one PTZ camera. Of the three fixed cameras, one has a panoramic lens, while the other two have telephoto lenses, ensuring both wide-angle and close-up coverage of the meeting room while delivering clear images of every participant. The PTZ camera features 20X optical zoom and a wide range of pan and tilt movement. Taken together, these cameras provide a detailed, dynamic visual experience. 

The second component of the bundle is the MTouch Plus panel, which provides a large ergonomic touchscreen interface to operate the system, providing one-click conferencing, call control, camera control, and content sharing.

The RoomSensor is also included, which is a ceiling-mounted device that detects occupancy for operational readiness. It automatically wakes up the system as participants enter the room and also collects environmental measurements such as temperature, humidity, light, and air quality. 

At the heart of the MVC S80 system is the MCore 4 Mini PC, powered by an Intel Ultra5 125H processor. With high-performance processing and dedicated AI acceleration, it provides the computing power needed to support the MVC S80’s advanced features and deliver a stable, efficient Microsoft Teams Rooms experience. 

How the MVC S80 keeps every participant in view

Among the MVC S80’s most valuable capabilities are its AI-assisted video features, which help make large-room meetings feel more natural for remote participants.

Yealink’s IntelliFocus feature helps remote attendees follow the conversation by displaying real-time close-ups of active and recent speakers. Instead of relying only on a wide room view, the system can highlight the people who are speaking, creating a more face-to-face feel.

Multi-Stream IntelliFrame is a separate feature of the SmartVision 80 that works within Microsoft Teams Rooms on Windows deployments to present in-room participants more individually. It gives each participant their own video stream and name tag, helping remote attendees see who is in the room and follow the discussion more easily. 

For presentation-style meetings, Yealink’s Presenter Tracking feature uses the PTZ camera to follow a presenter as they move around the room. This keeps the speaker centered and in view, even at distances of up to 65 feet (20 m).

Additional intelligent video features include speaker tracking, video fence, picture-in-picture and auto framing, giving organizations multiple ways to adapt the room experience to different meeting formats. 

The processing engine behind the MVC S80 

At the center of this Microsoft Teams Room offering is the MCore 4, a mini PC specially optimized for AI processing. With an integrated neural processing unit (NPU), it is future-ready and can unlock advanced AI-driven collaboration experiences.

Featuring 16 GB of memory and 256 GB of SSD storage space, it is a powerful computer in a compact package. It runs Microsoft’s specialized Windows 11 IoT Enterprise x64 operating system, an OS specifically designed for systems that do one main job and need to do it reliably for years.

The MCore 4 supports the following important features:

• Extended Display Identification Data (EDID) module: This module supports a communications standard that allows a display (like a TV or a monitor) to tell a computer its supported resolutions, refresh rates, and audio capabilities. It makes installations more stable and predictable by preventing issues like incorrect resolutions, display flickering, or Teams Rooms UIs not appearing correctly.
• Consumer Electronics Control (CEC) Support: This is a feature of HDMI that allows devices to control each other. It lets the MCore 4 turn a display on or off, switch inputs, or synchronize power states.
• IP-based Integration: Instead of using specialized AV cabling, simple IP and Ethernet network connectivity is sufficient to allow for communications with the touch console for system control.
• Audio VLAN (AVLAN) and internet separation: The MCore 4 is designed to connect to both a conventional network for internet, Teams, and other network communications as well as to a specialized Audio VLAN—a dedicated network segment for AV devices. The MCore 4 segregates AV device traffic from internet traffic for enhanced security, performance, and reliability.

MTouch Plus for simplifying room control

The integration of the 11.6” MTouch Plus touchscreen control panel provides convenient meeting controls. The MVC S80 comes with one MTouch Plus, but additional touch panels can be added to the same room, either wall-mountable, with a desk stand, or on a rotatable table mount.

From this control panel, you can start and end meetings, control audio parameters like volume or muting, adjust camera controls, and manage participants. You can enable and disable AI features and switch between different camera views or layouts. The device also acts as a central hub for presentation workflows since you can control presentation sharing by starting or stopping sharing and choosing the presentation input sources.

When integrated with the included RoomSensor, the MTouch Plus wakes up when people enter the room and displays real-time status of the meeting, including meeting info and the room state (occupied or not). 

Audio options for every room layout 

Yealink offers a wide range of professional audio solutions that can be integrated with the MVC S80:

• Ceiling-mountable voice pickup devices such as the CM20, with 16 omnidirectional microphones, and the CM50, a premium ceiling microphone with a panel form factor supporting 127 microphone units
• Tabletop voice pickup devices such as the wired VCM35 or the wireless VCM36, both of which have a three-mic array and can be installed as part of a larger array of voice pickup devices
• Speaker systems like the MSpeaker Pro bar form factor device or the CS10-D ceiling-mountable loudspeaker

The AP08 digital signal processor, which can be used to enhance meeting experiences with exceptional automation capabilities, including AI-based sound optimization and acoustic adaptation.
