Yealink’s new AI-powered MVC SmartVision 40 Microsoft Teams room system, called the MVCS40, is an exceptional addition to the company’s already star-studded Windows-based MVC lineup.

Yealink specifically designed this product to address the disconnection many remote employees report experiencing during video conferences. The MVCS40 is purpose-built to help remote participants feel more connected, vastly enhancing their collaboration experience.

In this article, we review this novel and innovative device, underscoring some of its most noteworthy features and characteristics.

Challenges with the hybrid work model

The work-from-home revolution that has brought about the hybrid work model has introduced innumerable benefits in terms of employee efficiency, job satisfaction, flexibility, and freedom of movement. Even so, it would be shortsighted not to acknowledge and address the difficulties that remote work has also introduced into the workforce.

One of the most profound problems reported is that remote and hybrid employees feel disconnected in meetings conducted over videoconferencing systems. Indeed, according to Microsoft's Work Trend Annual Report, 43% of remote users reported this sentiment. In practical terms, this statistic translates into shorter attention spans, less engagement, and less efficient and effective meetings.

The Yealink MVCS40 responds

To address this challenge, Yealink has introduced its latest innovation: the MVCS40. Building on the success of previous MVC series devices, this product incorporates cutting-edge AI technology to improve the remote meeting experience significantly.

Yealink designed the MVCS40 to seamlessly connect virtual and in-person participants, ensuring smooth and efficient interaction across different meeting formats. By leveraging advanced features, Yealink aims to close the gap between remote and onsite interactions, making meetings more productive and engaging for all attendees.

Noteworthy features of the MVCS40

The MVCS40 kit comes with the well-known MCore Pro, a mini-PC that serves as the brains of the operation. Depending on the kit you purchase, the kit also features either the MTouch E2 touch console or the more advanced MTouchPlus Console.

Both provide an easy-to-use interface from which you can control the whole system. At the center of this kit is an innovative bar-shaped all-in-one camera/speaker/microphone device.

Video functionality

This device sports a dual-eye camera system with lenses directed toward each side of the participants, providing a superior viewing angle.

Each camera has a 48-megapixel sensor that delivers unprecedented high-quality video while also enabling 6× digital zoom even at extended distances. The two cameras together have a 120° viewing angle.

The MVCS40 includes support for a wide range of AI-based features specially designed to create a feeling of inclusion and encourage more engagement. These include the following:

  • IntelliFocus: This feature displays real-time close-up shots of recent speakers, enabling remote participants to stay focused. It delivers a feeling that more closely resembles a face-to-face conversation.

  • Video Fence: The Video Fence feature (coming soon) marks the boundaries of a virtual meeting space. Your colleagues participating remotely will only see and hear what’s inside that “fence,” keeping the focus solely on the people and not any background activity.

  • Virtual Background: Although this feature is relatively well known among many videoconferencing system vendors, the high quality of the MVCS40’s implementation ensures that participants are not distracted by incomplete or intermittent background coverage.

These and many more AI features help enhance the end-user experience, ultimately providing remote participants with a feeling of inclusion and creating an immersive smart meeting room experience.

Audio capabilities

The MVCS40 has high-quality stereo speakers and an array of eight MEMS beamforming microphones that allow for full-duplex voice pickup from up to 20 feet (6 m) away. You can also use two additional wireless microphones to cover larger rooms.

The innovative use of AI for the MVCS40 is not limited to its video capabilities. AI-enhanced noise cancellation and the Audio Fence feature mentioned above further improve upon the remote user experience, ensuring that what you say is heard with the most natural voice reproduction possible.

Control and processing of the MVCS40

With the new generation of the MVC series, you can deploy multiple touch panels in the conference room, each customized for different meeting spaces. This offers greater convenience in meeting and room control without the need to move the touch panel to multiple locations as needed.

Key features of the Yealink MVCS40

Here are some of the most notable features of the MVCS40:

  • Dual 48 MP camera
  • 120° combined field of view video
  • Automatic lens privacy cover
  • Built-in 8 MEMS microphone array
  • Voice pickup range of up to 20 feet (6 m)
  • Two stereo speakers
  • Support for two wireless expansion microphones
  • AI-enhanced noise cancellation

Conclusion

The Yealink MVCS40 is a versatile video conferencing solution that meets the demands of modern business communications and helps mitigate the feeling of disconnection that participants often feel in remote meetings.

With its robust performance and advanced AI-driven features, the Yealink MVCS40 stands out as a reliable investment for companies aiming to navigate the evolving landscape of remote and hybrid work environments.
