As the end of the year approaches, we are grateful for our wonderful manufacturers and customers. For our last article of 2025, we thought we’d end off with a bang by reviewing Yealink’s new T7 series of IP phones. This new generation of Yealink SIP phones is bringing some of the most cutting-edge capabilities to enterprise and office deployments.
Yealink has also launched an impressive T8 series, which we will review in early 2026, so continue watching this space!
T7 series SIP phones overview
Yealink’s T7 series is a lineup of five phones that offer varying levels of capability and functionality. What stands out is that Yealink hasn’t cut any corners here: even the entry-level model includes a surprising number of innovative features.
Across the entire series, users benefit from a refreshed design, improved audio quality, better displays, and enhanced functionality. This consistent level of advancement suggests that the T7 line is aimed at executives, professionals, and managers as well as anyone who handles heavy voice traffic throughout the day.
The series groups the five models into three tiers:
- The T73 model, available in both the T73U and T73W versions
- The T74 model, offered in T74U and T74W variants
- The high-end T77U, which sits at the top of the series and delivers the most advanced user experience
Noteworthy features Yealink's T7 series
The first thing you’ll notice is that all T7 series phones have undergone a visual redesign, making them sleeker, more fashionable, and more in line with modern aesthetic standards.
All phones support Yealink’s Optima HD Voice and Acoustic Shield technology for ultra-clear voice quality and communication. They all also feature USB ports for headset connections, voice recording storage, and (for those models that need it) the use of external Wi-Fi and Bluetooth dongles, enhancing wireless capabilities.
Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports with PoE support come standard on all devices, allowing you to connect your workstation directly through the phone. This helps save valuable switch ports, a commodity that is expensive in today’s networks.
All phones support the connection of up to three cascading color screen expansion modules for those power users who require additional buttons and screen real estate to perform their functions effectively.
T77U model
At the top of the T7 ecosystem we have the T77U, a flagship phone designed for managers, executives, and high-level users. It has a gorgeous 7-inch touchscreen, which is probably the most notable feature that sets it apart. However, it also rises above the other models with its 84 one-touch programmable keys, two USB ports for wireless support, external storage connection, and ability to use USB headsets.
T73 and T74 models
The Yealink T73 and T74 devices comprise the entry-level and mid-level options in the series, respectively. The main characteristics that distinguish them include the size of the color screen (2.8” vs 4.3”), the maximum number of SIP accounts (12 vs 16), and the number of programmable keys (40 compared with 50).
U and W variations
The T73 and T74 models are available in “U” and “W” variants, letters that indicate wired and wireless models, respectively. What this means practically is that the U and W variants are identical except for the additional built-in Bluetooth and Wi-Fi capabilities that are present in the “W” models.
Both the T73W and T74W have support for dual-band Wi-Fi 6 (IEEE 802.11ax), which utilizes both the 2.4 GHz and 5.0 GHz frequency bands for wireless connectivity to the network. They also support Bluetooth 5.0, which enables simultaneous connection of a Bluetooth headset and your smartphone and allows you to connect the phone to a laptop or Bluetooth-enabled PC.
The “W” phones are ideal for environments where wireless connectivity for both the network and additional peripherals is already established in the workspace in which they will be installed. Of course, such connectivity is possible using the “U” models as well, but that requires an additional dongle, as mentioned before.
T7 model comparison table
The following table provides a more detailed comparison of the devices' capabilities.
| Feature | T73U | T73W | T74U | T74W | T77U |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|

As you can see from the table, the major features that differ between the models are as follows:
- There are wireless capabilities for the “W” variants, as mentioned above.
- The display size increases as the model number increases.
- The number of SIP accounts increases for higher-numbered models.
- The number of programmable keys also increases in higher model numbers.
- The T77 has a touchscreen and two USB ports.
Use cases
The following are some example use cases for the various T7 series of SIP phones from Yealink.
Scenario A: Executive / power user desks
These users have very high call volume and should have features that allow them to manage multiple calls easily. They require:
- A large screen that can be managed ergonomically (touchscreen) and with multiple buttons
- Bluetooth connectivity for headset/smartphone/laptop/PC connectivity
- Multiple SIP lines
A T77U phone, in conjunction with a BT41 Bluetooth dongle, provides the necessary capabilities for this use case.
Scenario B: Managers / professionals
This scenario typically arises in a busy office with some team coordination or a hot-desking environment. It involves a moderate number of voice calls and a moderate need for multiple lines and programmable keys.
The T74W or T74U can easily fulfill these requirements. Depending on the wired or wireless nature of your network connectivity and headsets, you can choose the variant that best suits your needs.
Scenario C: General business users / front desk / shared workstations
Here you need cost-sensitive solutions with enough features and capabilities to ensure a high degree of functionality but minimal extras, which is where the entry-level T73 models fit well. Again, depending on the use of wireless network connectivity and Bluetooth headsets, it may be worth choosing the “W” model over the “U” one.
Conclusion
The Yealink T7 series is a flexible, modern lineup designed to meet the needs of a wide range of users, from executives handling high call volumes to managers balancing multiple tasks to general business users who need reliable, high-quality desk phones. Differences in areas such as display size, wireless capabilities, SIP account capacity, and programmable keys mean that each model naturally aligns with a specific scenario, making the selection process straightforward and practical.
