The very technology that makes VoIP so efficient can also indirectly cause one-way audio issues.

VoIP stands for Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), indicating that the communication travels over the internet in little packets using RTP (Real-Time Transport Protocol). Since the packets are traveling through the internet, they must pass through firewalls and network address translation (NAT). Due to the tricky nature of firewalls, a common complaint of customers and installers alike is that either the caller or callee cannot hear the other party. Although this is a common inquiry and topic for support tickets, it is also rather easy to fix.

Sneak preview of new enhancements coming later this year

With so little face time (thanks to the internet), a customer’s experience is increasingly important. Advanced apps ranging from Pomodoro Technique Timer to more obvious solutions provided by Google Calendar will make workers in any industry more productive as they perform phone call campaigns and meetings with one device instead of two. The versatility that the Android platform provides is a huge differentiator that separates these phones from a typical IP phone.

For many businesses, videoconferencing has traditionally been seen as being a pipe dream – something they would love to be able to utilize but cannot because of a variety of factors. But not anymore: the videoconferencing marketplace is currently going through a major transformation.

Grandstream, well known throughout the world for their SIP communications solutions, will soon expand those solutions by offering a new line of Wi-Fi devices. Grandstream’s entrance into the Wi-Fi marketplace will feature a Wi-Fi access point, the GWN7610, and they will soon thereafter launch a Gigabit VPN router, which will be called the GWN7000. This product line will be a new mainstay product category from Grandstream, and it will be expanded moving forward to include a variety of routers and access points with various capabilities.
